Colleges in the United States offer up to a bachelor's degree. A university can offer bachelor's degrees as well, but also offer postgraduate degrees such as master's degrees and doctorate degrees.

∙ 13y agoI have never attended a European University and things may have changed, but the traditional system in England and Germany is that the goal is to prepare for the examinations. Lectures are available but optional and no credits are given for them. The diploma is awarded based on the final examination results and a ranking is given to the diploma. One of my teachers from Germany said , not completely in jest, that German university students spend the winters skiing and the summers at the beach and commit suicide their senor year. I was also told that professors were paid on the basis of how many attended their lectures.
