acoustic is louder, bulkier and more natural sounding. electric is more compact and is played through an amp, and u can change the settings of the drum pads, such as a rock kit, a dance kit etc. acoustic looks better, and when u play electric, u can sometimes hear the sticks hitting the pads which sounds bad, so crank it up. acoustic for live shows, electric for practising at home. electric at its cheapest is more expensive then acoustic at its cheapest :)
