Passive immunity is the one in which ready-made antibodies are given, so that immune system of body dont have to do any active work. In active immunity, we give substances (like vaccines which are most of the time less active disease causing agent itself) which promote antibody formation in the body. - Dr. Akash Singh

the answer after an hour of looking because my computer was slow is

-passive immunity is (Immunity acquired by the transfer of antibodies from another individual)

-active immunity is (Immunity resulting from the development of antibodies in response to the presence of an antigen)

I dont know if this is exactly correct but its better than that answer.

Naturally acquired active immunity occurs when the person is exposed to a live pathogen, develops the disease, and becomes immune as a result of the primary immune response.
Artificially acquired active immunity can be induced by a vaccine, a substance that contains the antigen. A vaccine stimulates a primary response against the antigen without causing symptoms of the disease.
Artificially acquired passive immunity is a short-term immunization by the injection of antibodies, such as gamma globulin, that are not produced by the recipient's cells.
Naturally acquired passive immunity occurs during pregnancy, in which certain antibodies are passed from the maternal into the fetal bloodstream. Immunologic tolerance for foreign antigens can be induced experimentally by creating conditions of high-zone tolerance, i.e., by injecting large amounts of a foreign antigen into the host organism, or low-zone tolerance, i.e., injecting small amounts of foreign antigen over long periods of time

active immunity is the immunity that is stimulated internally as a a result of antibodies entering the body. Passive is stimulated by substances from an external source

Passive immunity is different from active immunity because passive immunity?

Passive immunity is different from active immunity because it means that you can get it from another person and you can give it someone else. Active immunity is when you get it by yourself, not from another person, and you cannot pass it to another person.

A major difference between active and passive immunity is that active immunity requires?

Active immunity requires exposure to the antigen, either naturally or artificially, in order for the immune system to build antibodies against it. Passive immunity does not require exposure to the antigen because the antibodies are obtained either naturally, through mother's milk, or artificially through an injection of a serum, such as that is used in antivenom for snake bites.

Does active immunity last longer than passive immunity?

yes

How are different active and passive?

Active immunity is generated by your body. So you get active immunity as a result of infections or due to vaccines. Passive immunity is not generated by your body. Here the antibodies are to be supplied. Child gets the antibodies from mother. Alternately you get the antibodies via injections. The effect of active immunity is long lasting. The effect of passive immunity is short lived. So the active immunity is considered as better. The passive immunity has one advantage. It is available with immediate effect, while it takes about two to three weeks, before the effects of active immunity is available.
