The difference between airfoil and airfoil section is that airfoil is a structure with curved surfaces designed to give the most favorable ratio of lift to drag in a flight, it is used as the basic form of wings, fins, and tailplanes of most aircraft. An airfoil section is the cross- sectional shape or profile of an airfoil. I studied that in sixth grade for a model plane that I did a report on.
