Different languages!

That is not correct in the sense of the question that you are asking. I have used several international textbooks over the 10 years on and off that I have been going to college. Most of the time the only differences are the cover, the cover picture/color, the ISBN number, and occasionally some of the questions at the end of the chapters were different than the US edition. So if you find the international edition of your book, I would strongly recommend purchasing it. It will save you over half the price of the US edition in most cases. My Anatomy and Physiology International version cost me $69.99 with the CD and the US version was $201.35 at the bookstore!

International editions of textbooks are typically cheaper and have different covers, paper quality, and sometimes content such as different problem sets. They are intended for sale in different regions at lower prices than the U.S. versions.

I want to start off buy saying these books are a great alternative since the material and content is EXACTLY the same but I have come across some differences.

One fact is these international editions are much cheaper, than the absurdly priced US version. However, beware of a couple things when purchasing the international edition. First, in most math/science related books, such as engineering books, they seem to have different values in their problems. From what I have read the problems are the same just the number values are different, but this could be frustrating if the homework problems are from the book. Also, consider if your book comes with a CD it would be risky to buy an international version of this because many of them are strictly just the books. Lastly, many of these books take 8-12 days or more to ship so if you need your book overnight, it is not going to happen.

Do NOT be weary when buying these books because almost all of these books are 100% LEGAL. If you do not believe me e-mail the manufacturer and ask them.

What is the real difference between international version vs US edition of school books?

What's the difference between a U.S. edition and international edition when you buy a college textbook? This is the first question that I asked myself when I started my graduate class a year ago. Textbooks are notoriously expensive in this country, and the high tuition fees are not helping either. I started looking into the international edition and found that basically there was no difference except the design of the cover. Seriously, that's the only difference! The U.S. edition usually has a hard cover with a different design on it, while the international edition has a soft cover. I'm not sure if that much of the paper justifies doubling the price of a textbook when the internatonal edition can do the same job. Students and potential students, don't be afraid to buy international edition! I have used many international editions so far and saved a lot of money. I have no answer to why the U.S. publishers want to charge students in the U.S. more money than those overseas, but I do know that you can ace the exam regardless you are using a U.S. edition or international edition! International editions usually take longer to ship as well since they are well--international. If you need a textbook FAST, it is usually worth the extra $$$ for the local version. But as long as you leave a sufficient time maragin (8-12 days) you should be fine. Good luck to all your classes! *I would like to note that in most technical books the problems at the end of the chapter (usually the ones the teacher assigns for homework) have different numerical value, making it very frustrating. But just ask a buddy in the class for the real numbers and you will be fine. As the above guy mentioned DO BUY THESE BOOKS!
