There are several differences. First, most Oceanic Dolphins are in the superfamily Odontoceti, or Toothed Whales. River Dolphins are in the superfamily Platandistoidea, or River Dolphins.
Secondly, because of their murkier habitat, River Dolphins have a poorer sense of eyesight than Oceanic Dolphins, and aren't as active.
Finally, the River Dolphin's snouts are longer than that of their oceanic relatives.
