Instantaneous speed is your speed at a given moment in time, whereas the average speed is the rate at which something has travelled from one point to another.

In practice, the average speed is calculated using the total distance travelled and dividing it by the total time spent travelling:

vaverage=Δd/Δt

Whereas the instantaneous speed is the time derivative of the distance travelled:

vinstantaneous=dx/dt

What is the difference between instantaneous speed and speed?

Instantaneous speed is speed measured at a specific time. Speed is an average.

What is the difference between instantaneous speed and average speed?

Instantaneous speed is the speed at a particular moment in time.The average speed of an object tells you the (average) rate at which it covers distance

What is the difference between constant speed and average speed?

Average speed is a representation of all your speeds between two points, constant speed is just unchanging speed.

What is the difference between insantaneous speend and average speed?

The instantaneous speed is the speed of a moving body at an instant. Average speed is the overall speed through a period of time. These are two important aspects of differentiation in calculus.

What is The basic difference between instantaneous and average speed?

Instantaneous speed:- It is the rate of change of position with respect to time,at that instant. Average speed:-Average speed is defined as the total path length travelled divided by the total time interval.

How do you do you average speed on a graph?

Assuming it's a graph of speed vs time, then between 2 times, the average is the distance (= area under the graph between those times) divided by the time difference.

What is the difference between actual speed and average speed?

Actual speed is the speed you are traveling at any given moment at any given point. Average speed is figured by dividing the distance you traveled by the time it took you to drive that distance.

What is the difference between average speed and top speed?

Average speed is a value of all the speeds you have travelled at over a certain length of time. Top speed is the absolute highest or fastest speed that you have ever reached. (A one time speed value).

How do you find average speed on a graph?

Assuming it's a graph of speed vs time, then between 2 times, the average is the distance (= area under the graph between those times) divided by the time difference.

What is the difference between constant speed and variable speed?

The difference is that constant speed doesn't change but variable speed does. (change)

What is the Difference between velocity and average speed?

speed is a scalar quantity ie it has no directions...........whereas velocity is a vector quantity ie it has directions...................Also speed has distance n velocity has displacement

What is the difference between Average Speed and Instantaneous Speed?

Suppose you accelerate in your car from stopped to 50 km.hr-1. When you were stopped your instantaneous speed was zero. At the end of the period of acceleration your instantaneous speed was 50 km.hr-1. If your rate of acceleration was constant then your average speed was 25 km.hr-1.
