What is the difference between communicable and non communciable diseases?

A communicable disease is one which can be transmitted from one person to another, like the common cold. A non-communicable disease is one which cannot be transmitted from person to person, such as cancer.

Non communicable diseases are disease that are not contagious, they are not caused by pathogens and are usually hereditary, or caused by environmental causes (ie...smoking causes lung cancer).

Communicable diseases are contagious, spread easily via air, fluid or touch such as a cold, Tuberculosis or Hepatitis. They usually create an immune response of some sort. Most times can be controlled with simple hand washing techniques or simple personal protection precautions.
