egocentrism is the characteristic of regarding oneself and one's own opinions or interests as most important. The term derives from the Greek egô, meaning "I." An egocentric person has no theory of mind, cannot "put himself in other people's shoes," and believes everyone sees what he sees (or that what he sees in some way exceeds what others see.) Ethnocentrism is the tendency to look at the world primarily from the perspective of one's own culture. It is defined as the viewpoint that "one's own group is the center of everything," against which all other groups are judged. Ethnocentrism often entails the belief that one's own race or ethnic group is the most important and/or that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups. Within this ideology, individuals will judge other groups in relation to their own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behaviour, customs, and religion. These ethnic distinctions and sub-divisions serve to define each ethnicity's unique cultural identity.
The main difference between ethnocentrism and xenocentrism is the preference of culture. Ethnocentrism is a preference to your own culture standards while xenocentrism is a preference to different cultures.
The opposite of ethnocentrism is cultural relativism, which is the belief that all cultures have value and should be understood and judged based on their own standards and beliefs rather than comparing them to one's own culture.
Ethnocentrism a noun.
Xenocentrism is the desire for the styles, ideas or products within someone else's culture instead of their own. The cause for xenocentrism would be exposure to other cultures, poor economic situation and foreign influence on education.
Ethnocentrism can be both good and bad.
The main effects of ethnocentrism in communication are (1) assumptions about the person you are communicating with because of their ethnic similarity or difference to the ethnocentric speaker and (2) assumptions about the values or talking-style of the other person by the ethnocentric speaker.
Ethnocentrism
The antonym of ethnocentricism is cultural relativism. Or Xenocentrism.
Cultural relativism was in part a response to western ethnocentrism
A banana. It has absolutely nothing to do with ethnocentrism and so is a perfect non-example.

In my opinion, national pride is simply revering your country. Ethnocentrism is the fallacy that your country betters other countries. The difference between the two (near) synonyms is the fact that although you may hold your country in veneration, you need not believe other countries/cultures insignificant.
