horses have bigger breed types such as shire horse, Clydesdale ,Suffolk punch and lots more where as ponies have smaller breed types such as Shetland, Dartmoor and the smallest bred of pony the Fallabella.
Horses and ponies may look the same, but there is a difference that few barely pay attention to; size. Horses are measured in hands, 4 inches per hand. A pony is 14.2 hands and under. A horse is 14.3 hands and taller.
A horse is more than 14.2 hands high (hh). A hand is 4 inches. A pony is less than 14.2hh. This is the literal term, and legally that is the definition of a pony or horse. However, a horse is usually more refined - not as bulky and thick. Ponies are often more muscular, whereas horses are more powerful. Within the pony category, miniature horses fall. A mini is technically a pony; however they are built more like extremely small horses. Ponies have smaller, shorter steps and jerkier movements. They think more quickly and independently than horses, and are generally smarter. Many bite, and they are often a bit more fiery. Horses don't think as quickly, but this can sometimes work to the rider's advantage. Overall, it is all a matter of preference and size.

The most apparent difference between horses and ponies is their size. Apart from this, ponies generally have a more stocky build and are stronger relative to their size.
The difference between horses and ponies are very easy to see in most breeds. Ponies are normally shorter and stockier than horses. A pony'smaximum height is 14.2hh.
Yea just a size difference
A centaur is a human and horse combined... A horses legs with a human torso and face...
"Baby horses" are NOT called ponies. They are called foals, a colt if its a male foal, and a filly if its a female foal.Ponies are horses that are under 14.2 hands, but again, are not 'baby horses'.Bottom line, Ponies are not foals, nor will they ever be, there is a big difference between the two. If you do not believe me, look it up. Anyone that knows anything about horses should know this.
