'Tone' is the general sound of what somebody says. For example, being angry, upset or happy can affect the tone of what we say.

'Intonation' is more specifically in accordance with the rise and fall of the tone of certain words within a sentence. For example, when we ask a question, the intonation often rises at the end of the sentence.

Intonation refers to the rise and fall of pitch in speech, which can convey meaning or emotion. Tone, on the other hand, is the overall attitude or feeling conveyed by the choice of words, which can affect the interpretation of the message. In essence, intonation is related to pitch variation while tone is related to the overall emotional quality of the speech.
