In human and animal cells, cytokinesis involves the cytoplasm and cell membrane pinching itself in two, called the cleavage furrow, forming 2 "daughter" cells. In plants, cytokinesis involves the formation of a cell plate. Basically the cell elongates a little, and then grows a new cell wall right down the middle, effectively dividing the cell.

In animal cells, a "cleavage furrow" appears as the cell is "pinched" in two from the outer edges. In plant cells, a cell plate begins at the center of the cell and grows out to the cell membrane.

Plants have a cell wall in which they use to separate during reproduction.

Animal cells don't have cell walls. Instead, they use clevage furo, which is when the cell "pinches" to separate.

Telophase is the stage of mitosis in which the chromosomes arrive at the poles, and the new nuclear membranes form around them.

During telophase in animals, a cleavage furrow forms to separate the two sets of daughter forming two separate daughter cells. This furrow is not a legitimate cell plate, but rather a 'pinch' by the cell of its center.

However, during telophase in plants, a cell plate forms instead of a cleavage furrow.

Plant cells must reproduce using a "cell plate", while the animal cells undergoing telophase must use clevage furo in order to separate, which is a pinching process to separate.

The basic process is the same, but yes - there are differences.

How is cytokinesis in plants cells different to cyokinesis in aminal cells?

In plant cells cell plate is formed. In animal cells cleavage furrow occurs.

What structure do animal cells have during cytokinesis that plant cells do not?

a cell plate

During cytokinesis what is a major difference between cell division in plant and animal cells?

The major in cell division (cytokinesis) in plant and animal cells is in plant cells, meiosis is only undergone from a spore to a sporophyte (from 2n to n) whereas in the animal cells, meiosis splits the sex cells into 4 new cells.

Which part of cell division is different in plant and animal cells?

They are not so different. I am aware of two major differences: 1. Centrioles are not present in plant cells. Other structures are present to assemble and organise the spindle fibres. 2. At the end of telophase, there is no cleavage of the cytoplasm; Rather the Golgi apparatus pinches off vesicles which deposit to form a new cell wall. This is how cytokinesis takes place in plant cells, in contrast with animal cells where the cytoplasm cleaves.

What structure do plant cells have during cytokinesis that animal cells do not have?

Plant cells form a cell plate between the two new nuclei during cytokinesis. The cell plate form the cell walls for the two new plant cells. The cell plate formation takes place in plant cells during cytokinesis from the material received from Golgi bodies.

What is the difference between animal cells an plant cells?

Animal cells separate by CYTOKINESIS while plant cells must grow a new cell wall for separation called a CELL PLATE.

What does cytokinesis in plant cells look like?

Cytokinesis in plant cells is quite different from cytokinesis in animal cells. There is no cleavage furrow in plant cell division. Instead, vesicles produced by the Gogli apparatus line up at the center of the plant cell during telophase. These vesicles, containing phospholipids, fuse together and create a cell plate. The cell plate continues to elongate and fuses with the wall of the parent cell. At the end of cytokinesis in plants, the products are two new daughter cells, each with a nucleus and cell wall.

How is cytokinesis in cells similar to cytokinesis is animal cells?

Cytokinesis happens at the cell plate in the plant cell It happens at the ceavage furrow in the animal cell.... The only similarity is that it is the microtubules shortening and tightning until itll eventually pinch the mother cell into two identical daughter cells

What does it called when the cytoplasm of a cell divides?

It's called cytokinesis. Cytokinesis occurs after the last stage of mitosis which is telophase (nucleus reforms, spindle fiber go away). Cytokinesis is different between plant and animal cells. In plant cells, the cells creates a cell wall through the cytoplasm and between the nuclei, splitting the "mother cell" into two "daughter cells. In animal cells, the cell begins to furrow in the middle and splits off into two. Without cytokinesis, complete cell division cannot occur. If cytokinesis does not occur and only mitosis occurs in the cell, the cell will become cancerous and hazardous to the organism that it is a part of.

How are animal cells different from plant cells-?

Animal cells are different from plant cells in that the cell wall of animal cells is not made up of cellulose.
