Static electricity - basically is made when two objects rub together and create a charge. The transfer of particles across the surface of this object produce a build up of electricity which can create a spark.
Current electricity - The flow of electrons from one atom to the next usually in a metal wire.

the difference is electrons protons and neutrons, in the grid it is a negative charge(electrons and neutrons) and in static its positive(protons and neutrons) wich is why it is harder to use static for electricity for power. This is also why if you rub a balloon on your hair then hold in front of an outlet the balloon may pop and zap you bad. DO NOT TRY THIS IT WAS A BAD EXPERIANCE THAT HAPPENED TO A FRIEND!
