The Romans invaded Britain about four times. Twice under Julius Caesar in 55BC and 54BC but they did not stay.
In 43AD (about 90 years later) Claudius Caesar invaded and this time conquered southern Britain. The Romans would go on to annex the rest of Britain up to Hadrian's Wall by about 80AD. Much later the Britons revolted against Rome and were independent from 286AD under a series of Romano-British despots. The Romans eventually re-invaded the rebellious province in 296AD and remained in Britain until 410AD.
The Normans invaded England once in 1066 and by 1080 had conquered the country.
The Vikings invaded France and settled there. Norman's are the offspring of the Vikings.
