The four inner planets are smaller, denser and warmer than the four outer gas planets. The four gas planets don't have clear surfaces like the four inner rocky planets. Because they are further away, the out gas planets orbit the sun at slower speeds and at slower rates - taking much longer in general. The four outer planets have a very different composition to the inner planets.

  • The inner planets and the outer plants are divided by the asteroid belt.
  • The inner planets are small and comprised mainly of rock and metals.
  • The outer planets are large and are comprised mainly of gases and ices.

However, it was believed that other planets close to another star couldn't be gas giants, but the discovery of a "hot Jupiter" extrasolar planet whose mass is close to or exceeds that of Jupiter orbits within 0.05 AU of it's parent stars, about one eighth of the distance that Mercury orbits the Sun.

the inner planets are rocky and within the aesteroid belt. the outer planets are made from gas and ice and are outside the belt.
The inner planets are between the Sun and the Asteroid Belt, while the outer planets are farther from the Sun than the Belt.

The "inner planets" are the four rocky or "terrestrial" (Earth-like) planets closer to the Sun. The outer planets are the four larger "gas giants".

Inner planets : Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars

Outer planets : Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

Inner planet: close to the star (if it has just one, like our solar system)
Outer planet: far from the star.

The Earth is one of the inner planets, while Neptune is one of the outer planets.

and also one of the innner planets has life (wich is earth) and that the innner planets have 4 planets and btw this is meee109 ty

The inner planets are generally referred to as all the planets closer to the sun than the asteroid belt, and the outer planets are the ones further away from the sun. There is no specific physical difference besides distance, although most of the outer planets are gas giants, but being a gas giant does not make them an outer planet.

Outer planets tend to be made of gas and dust particles, and are usually bigger that the inner planets. The inner planets are warmer, with rocky cores and thinner atmospheres.

The inner planets are closer together than the outer planets are.

How do the distances between inner planets compare to distances between the outer planets?

The distances between the inner planets is smaller than the distances between the outer planets.

How does the distance between the inner planets differ from the distance between the outer planets?

As the names suggest, the inner planets are closer to the Sun than the outer planets.

What are 3 differences between the outer and inner planets?

The inner planets are small, the outer planets are huge in comparison. The inner planets have rocky surfaces, the outer planets are gas giants. All of the outer planets have rings. None of the inner planets does. All of the outer planets have several moons, some of them quite large.

How are the inner and outer planets different?

There are a lot of differences between the inner and outer planets. First of all, they inner planets are also known as the "Rocky planets". THey are rocky, hence their name "Rocky planets". And the outer planets are also known as "Gas Giants." THey are mainly composed of gas, hence their name, "Gas Giants." Another difference is their mass. The outer planets have greater mass than the inner planets. In other words, they are heavier. The inner planets follow orbital paths which, like those of the outer planets, are centered on the sun. But the inner planets, without exception, are nearerto the sun than any of the outer planets are.
