There were three different differentials take your Vin number and ask your local dealer.

There should be a tag on one of the bolts on the rear cover. The gear ration is stamped on it.

### What is the gear ratio for a 1984 F150 XLT with a 5.8 4v ho motor and how much hp?

I own a 1984 F150 XLT with a 351w (5.8 liter) and a 4V Holley
carb. I 'just' had the differential rebuilt and the Ring &
Pinion gear ratio that was in there was 3.0. It is a 9" Ford
differential (stock). I had it replaced (it was worn anyway) with
2.75 ratio for better highway driving.
I am not sure about the HP, though. My truck is wholly stock and
I have been giving it a 'rolling restoration' since my late brother
passed away in 2006 (I inherited it from him).

### What is an axle ratio?

###### Asked in Cars & Vehicles

### Can you measure the speed of a car by ratio?

Yes. To do so, you will need your transmission gear ratios, your
differential gear ratio and your tire circumference. You can derive
the tire circumference by mutliplying its diameter by 3.1416
(pi).
Example: At highway speed your RPM is 2000. Say your overdrive (5th
gear) is 0.84:1, your differential gear ratio is 3.73:1 and your
tire circumference for a P215/75R15 is 87". First divide the RPM by
the first ratio (.84) which gives you 2380 RPMS. Then divide by the
differential ratio of 3.73 gives you 638.3 RPM (Wheel speed). You
speed is 87"x 638.3 = 55,532 inches per minute or 52.6 MPH.
Hope that helps!

### What is the differential gear ratio in a 1994 F150?

There are four ways to find a ratio.
1 A dealer can normally tell from the vin number.
2 There are normally tags or labels on the axle that have part
number, gear ratio, and fluid requirement
info.
3 You can count how many times you have to turn the driveshaft
to get one complete turn of the tires.
4 You can divide the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide
by number of teeth on the pinion.
