The first-person point of view provides an intimate and subjective perspective, allowing readers to experience events through the narrator's eyes and thoughts. This creates a strong connection between the reader and the narrator, making the narrative more personal and engaging.

The effect can at times be quite interesting, say when reading a book written in the "First Person". You have the strange feeling that they are speaking to you in person. Everying that you read is for your ears only and no one else. It is as if you are reading their diary given to you by the author.

One big challenge is that you have to make sure your character doesn't know things that he or she should not - as the author, you know what's happening in the next town, but your character doesn't unless someone tells him or her, and you need to keep things like that in mind as you write.
