It varies greatly between different products. And most products provide different proportions of profit, which gives room for discounting. For example, there is a ton of profit in house brands such as Samson, Jean Baptiste, and Groove Percussion, but there is little room for profit in products with good value/quality, like Shure microphones for instance. On most products, it's safe to say that employees get roughly 20% across the board, which does suck because we often have 20% sales on major holidays a few times a year. Fortunately, for major purchases, most smart employees tend to deal straight with the manufacturer because we are aware that Sam Ash really doesn't take care of it's employees in terms of discounts. Accessory items are sold to employees at cost, which varies, and is usually a very inflated cost. So really, to put it simply, there is no real employee discount at Sam Ash, unless your last name is Ash... and the manufactures are kind enough to really help you out, because in sales, you're really an endorser. If you work at a Sam Ash store, you'll see it's really hard to find someone who the Ash family hasn't gotten to bend over a barrel. It's a tough job, usually for close to minimum unless you are a top writer in the pro audio dept. or unless you're a general manager or sales manager. On top of that, the job has very few perks. If you haven't caught on, I'm assuming you are interested in a job at Sam Ash and I'm trying to tell you to just not get involved with this company. They maintain an abusive one way relationship with their employees, and incase you're wondering I'm not a disgruntled employee that got fired, let go, or quit or has a bad time at work. This is just the true nature of the company.

Hope this helps.
