Probably the speed wheel sensor needs to be reset
Why is my 97 mercedes e420 abs and esp warning light on?
The "ESP" system helps correct oversteer and understeer by breaking the inner or outer wheel as needed to get the car back on a straight path. When the light flashes the "ESP" system has detected this condition and has momentarily engaged.

When the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) warning light illuminates on your Mercedes dashboard, it indicates a potential issue with the vehicle's stability control system. This may occur if there is a malfunction in the system or if it is actively engaged due to slippery conditions. It’s advisable to check the owner's manual for specific guidance and have the vehicle inspected by a qualified technician if the light remains on. Driving with the ESP light on can affect vehicle handling and safety.
To determine if your 1999 Mercedes-Benz ML320 has the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), check the owner's manual for any mention of ESP features. You can also look for an ESP button on the dashboard; it usually has a car icon with skid marks. Additionally, the vehicle's instrument cluster may display an ESP warning light when the system is active or has a fault. If you're still unsure, a visit to a Mercedes-Benz dealership or a qualified mechanic can provide confirmation.

If you have a 1997 Mercedes Benz e420 but you are unable to turn off the esp button, it could be having a transmission fluid problem.
The ESP code in a 2004 Mercedes E500 refers to the Electronic Stability Program, which helps improve vehicle stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction. When the ESP warning light is illuminated on the dashboard, it indicates a potential issue with the system, such as a malfunction in the sensors or a problem with the ABS. It’s important to have the vehicle checked by a qualified technician to diagnose and resolve any underlying issues.
In a Mercedes ML 350, "BAS ESP" refers to the Brake Assist System (BAS) and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). When this warning light appears on the dashboard, it indicates a potential issue with these systems, which are designed to enhance vehicle stability and safety during braking and cornering. It's advisable to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified technician to diagnose and resolve any underlying problems.
