14.7 psi (at sea level).
A plane is designed so that when it moves forward the air moving across its wings creates an upward force called lift, which counteracts the force of gravity.
Well, To put it simply, our cells have some sort of way to push back. I believe this is just air. If this air was taken out, we would collapse and die. This can be seen in a few examples. On an airplane, you change height very quickly. You reach a higher altitude, which is a lower pressure. However your cells cant adjust fast enough, so they are still pushing hard. This is what we call, ear popping. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The weight of air on top of us is being supported by the air below compressing it. Since air is a fluid, the weight, which is a force, is not transmitted just straight down, it is transmitted in all directions, pressure in the air. So, the air surrounding our body is not pushing us down, what it is doing is compressing it from all sides. Most of our body is formed by liquids which have very small compressibility. The air we breath is at the outside pressure, but the gas in in inside cavities, like air entrapped inside the ear, specially when having a cold because of tissue inflammation, expands when outside pressure is reduced (like when going up in a plane), and then compresses when landing.
pressure is a physical unit that measures what we may call the density of force i.e. trhe amount of force exerted on a certain area , the atmosphiric pressure is the force exerted by the air mass on a certain area , clearly more air means more mass , thus , when we go down the air above us increases , and when we go down the amount of air decreases.
Gravity is stronger. If gravity was not stronger air would make us float away. Air is trying to make things go up and gravity is making things go down.
about 6000
Basically for the same reason that we don't sink into the Earth, despite gravity pulling us down. There is another force pushing us up - and there is another force pushing the hang glider up. In the case of the hang glider, the push is provided by the air.
Nothing. Actually gravity is pushing you down but there is enough air resistance on the earth to stop us feeling heavy and crushed
Advanced how? Technologically, the Navy and Air Force have this, hands down.
Because you are an uneducated buffoon, who will never accept the fact that it is PULLING US down. It is in no way pushing us. There is no logic in it pushing us down, and the laws of Physics say that it is pulling us down. I am a Professor in MIT. Don't try and act oversmart.
The US Air Force is part of the military. The mission of the military is to protect and to serve. The Air Force accomplishes this mission from the air.
The compound noun 'air force' is only a proper noun when it is used for a specific air force. For example:Do we have an air force? Yes we do, the US Air Force. How do I join the Air Force? You visit an Air Force recruiter. Do other countries have an air force? Yes, most countries today do have an air force.Note: The use of the capitalized noun Air Force is referring to a specific air force, the US Air Force, a proper noun even if the US is not mentioned, it is inferred. The lower case use of air force is not referring to a specific air force.
no
The pressure of the air. This is traditionally expressed (at least in the US and UK) in pounds per square inch, but with the SI system it is in Newtons per square meter, or some multiple of this.
In WWII the US Army Air Force and the US Naval Air Forces fought the war. In 1947 President Truman created the US Air Force. The Korean War was the FIRST war fought by the United States Air Force.
No. Nothing can stop the United States Air Force. The United States Air Force is one of the most powerful air arm in the World. Nothing can stop the US Air Force.
The US Air Force and the Israeli Air Force are renowned to have the best Air Forces in the World.
The US Air Force was originally part of the US Army as far back as WWI. Then It was the Army Air Corps. After WWII the Air force became a separate branch of the service in 1947.
