Shakespeare wrote in Early Modern English. He also had two very specific other writing styles:

1. For commoners, or non-significant characters, he writes their lines in prose.

2. For the wealthy and main characters, he writes their lines in iambic pentameter (verse) - This consisted of rhymed verse and blank verse.

William Shakespeare used early modern English to write his plays. Shakespeare wrote in Early Modern English. He also had two very specific other writing styles: 1. It's Modern English by definition. Middle English was essentially gone by 1485. Many people make the HORRIBLE mistake of claiming that Shakespeare wrote in Old English. Old English is more German than English, and you wouldn't be able to understand it without taking a foreign language class.

Perhaps I don't understand your question. His plays are written in the form of plays. Other people did not adapt them for the stage--they were written exclusively for the stage from the start.
