Microwave ovens operate at about 2,450 MHz.
The energy waves produced in a microwave oven take the form of electromagnetic radiation at about 2,450 MHz, which is in the microwave range.
The frequency at which a microwave oven operates, about 2,450 MHz, has a wavelength of about 12 cm.
Microwaves are electromagnetic waves with a frequency of about 2.45 GHz and a wavelength of about 12.2 cm; in the electromagnetic spectrum, they fall before infrared light but after radio waves (Heckert 2007). In a microwave oven, microwaves are produced by a device called a magnetron.-Google
Radio waves , at a frequency of 2.5 GHz, and very high power.
The microwave energy in a microwave oven is of a much lower frequency than light, but light is electromagnetic energy like the microwave radiation is.

microwave is an oven
The "microwave" range of radio waves is defined as frequencies between 3 - 300 GHz. But the question says " a " microwave, so we suspect it's talking about the box you use to heat the leftover meat loaf. The microwave oven operates in the Industrial/Scientific/Medical frequency band, at or near 2,450 MHz. (So, technically, it isn't a 'microwave' at all, since that frequency is below the range defined as 'microwave'. Guess it should be called a "UHF Oven".)

Longitudinal (radio) waves are the type of waves used in radar, and they are microwave frequency waves, which are high frequency and have short wavelengths.A link is provided to the Wikipedia article on radar. You can surf on over and check it out. A link is also provided to a related question.
The C-Max Microwave Oven has 1200 watts of power which I believe is the most power of any microwave oven.
There should be a note somewhere on the oven stating the frequency of the waves produced. It's normally around 2.5gigahertz. You can use this to workout the wavelength. The speed of the microwaves is the same as the speed of light, 3x10 to power of 8 metres per second. To get the wavelength you divide the speed by the frequency; 300 000 000m/s divided by 2 500 000 000waves/s which gives 0.12metres or 12cm.
