IDE stands for "Integrated Drive Electronics". It's one of the older interfaces used for disk drives (particularly hard drives and CD drives).

IDE isn't exactly "obsolete", but SATA (which can be faster) is more common nowadays. Some motherboards and drives have both IDE and SATA connectors.
