The function of the right side of the heart is to collect de-oxygenated blood, in the right atrium, from the body (via superior and inferior vena cavae) and pump it, via the right ventricle, into the lungs so that carbon dioxide can be dropped off and oxygen picked up.

Both sides of the heart pump blood.

The left side pumps blood carrying oxygen (oxygenated blood). It receives this blood from the lungs (where the blood loses carbon dioxide and picks up oxygen) and sends it to the rest of the body.

The right side pumps blood lacking oxygen (deoxygenated blood). It receives this from the body (where the blood loses oxygen and picks up carbon dioxide) and sends it to the lungs.

The left side of the human heart pumps blood throughout the body while the right side just pumps blood to the lungs which is why it is not as strong (or big as the left side unless of course you are suffering from a disease that is associated with your heart).

The word hepatic means to do with the liver. The hepatic vein carries deoxygenated blood out of the liver. it joins the vena cava which taked blood back to the heart. There is another vein connected to the liver called the hepatic portal vein. This carries blood and soluble digested food from the gut to the liver.
