Goldfish are originally from the Far East but have since been introduced into Europe and North America. The habitat of a goldfish is freshwater rivers, lakes, ponds and streams. These bodies of water are cooler, around 55-75*F , have a pH of 6-8, have good water circulation and a lot of dissolved oxygen.

Goldfish found in the waters in North America and Europe are considered invasive species. They out compete and eat all the food that other species would normally eat. Other fish species die off because that no longer have that food to eat. It's illegal to dump unwanted goldfish in your local waters.

The ideal temperature for a goldfish aquarium is roughly 68-72*F. Goldfish like small rounded gravel that they can push around to look for food. They like plants, fake or living, places to hide and some goldfish even like air bubblers that add little bubbles into the tanks water.

I'm not 100% certain, but it could be water. Just being silly. The Goldfish, Carassius auratus, was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated. A relatively small member of the carp family, the goldfish is a domesticated version of a dark-gray/brown carp native to East Asia. It was first domesticated in China, and introduced to Europe in the late 17th century.
