In nature what environmental factors might account for differencea in the total number of grasshopper?

Number of hunters. How big the habitat is. If there is a bigger habitat, many toothpick grasshoppers could survive. If there is a smaller area of habitat, many could die. Hunters can easily prey on grasshoppers when they easily can locate them in a smaller area. If they have smaller area of habitat, there would be limited food and resources for the toothpick grasshoppers.
