Compact bone is dense and regular in appearance forming a solid hard protective layer.
Calcified bones are hard but not really solid. Spongy bone is hard with tiny holes in it. Periosteum is thin but very strong. The other name for it is outer membrane, it helps to rebuild bone cells. The last is cartilage. It is strong material that holds two bones together and allows them to glide over one another. Skull iz also a very strong bone.
human bones consist of smooth and rough cartilidge which allows for movement, a hard layer of compact bone gives it strength, inside the bone their are 2 types of marrow: yellow marrow-which stores fat cells and minerals, and red marow- where red blood cells are made. inside the compact bone their is also a layer of spongy bone- this is like honeycomb, it makes the bone strong without being too heavy
Compact bone is the outer region of all the bones in your body. There are two basic parts of each of your bones:There is an outer hard layer of bone called either compact bone or cortical bone. this layer is much more dense. There is an inner layer of bone called either cancellous bone or trabecular bone. This is a softer bone and contains bone marrow and much more blood vessels than the cortical (compact) bone.
Bone is not a solid uniform material; it has spaces between the hard elements. The hard outer layer of the bone is made up of the compact cortical bone tissue that gives bone the hard, white, smooth solid appearance. This is often called 'dense' bone. The inside of the bone is filled with trabecular bone tissue (cancellous or spongy bone) which has a honeycombed appearance due to its open cell porous network made up of rod and plate elements that give the bone lightness and room for the blood vessels and bone marrow.
