This varies, some schools use the 4.0 GPA scale, others use 5.0 or even 6.0, the highest recorded on the 4.0 was around a 4.3, the highest on the 5.0 was around a 5.1 and the highest on the 6.0 was around 6.2, In college the grading scales differ.
