You are asking about a Six Pence (KM#903) from Great Britain. It is copper-nickel and measures 19.5mm in diameter. The front bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (facing right), with the words "Elizabeth II DEI GRATIA REGINA" (Latin for "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen") around it. The back has an image of flora representing England (rose), Scotland (thistle), Wales (leek) and Ireland (shamrock), with the words "FID DEF" (abbreviated Latin for "Defender of the Faith") above and "SIX PENCE 1962" below. 166,484,000 such coins were produced in 1962.

According to the Standard Catalog of World Coins, an example is worth about US$0.15 in Very Fine condition, US$0.35 in Extremely Fine condition, and US$1.75 in Uncirculated condition. A few were also produced in Proof condition for collectors; these are valued at about US$500.00 each.

The face value of anything is whatever is written on it.

The face value of a Sixpence is Sixpence.

At the time of Britains conversion to decimal currency, the Sixpence converted to 2.5 New Pence.

I recently sold an 1893 Jubilee Head sixpence for over £1,700 on eBay. This is probably the most valuable of the modern milled series.

Are any present British coins worth more than face value?

As a general "rule of thumb", most, if not all predecimal British coins would have some value beyond face value, if only for the metal they are made from. As another general "rule of thumb", most British decimal coins will have only face value other than for "uncirculated" or "Proof" coins and the very occasional error coin such as the undated 20 Pence coin and the 1983 2 New Pence coin.

What denominations does the pound come in?

The current pound coins are: The penny, the two pence coin, the five pence coin, the ten pence coin, the twenty pence coin, the fifty pence coin, the pound coin, and the two pound coin. There are also crown sized (American silver dollar sized) commemorative coins, early decimal crowns were valued at 25 pence, later ones are valued at five pounds at face value, though often the collector value exceeds the face value, and many shops do not take them. There are also many obsolete British coins, including all the pre-decimal coins, and the decimal half-penny, along with various bullion coins which are legal tender but have metallic values that far exceed the legal tender value.
