Campylobacter jejuni is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis (gastro). It is transferred by the faecal-oral route, and is commonly found in animal faeces. Therefore it can be transferred as "food poisoning".

It apparently also has some connection with Guillain-Barre syndrome, which is a disease of the peripheral nervous system.
