In human terms, it is an important resource because it is an important source of food (fish). The oceans also hold the largest amount of species, a large portion of which are yet unknown to man. Finally, the oceans are crucial for the regulation of the earth's climate. New technologies also make it an important energetic resource (tidal power, etc.).

Well, the ocean provides us Natural Resources because the ocean, has animals and plants. Those are all apart of Natural Resources, so the ocean provides us with them. That is how the ocean provides us Natural Reources. Hope this helped everyone! (:

Geothermal: run heat engines off earth's internals heat-could be as much as 1.5 QBtu/yr worldwide in 50 years-limited to a few rare sites.

Tidal: oscillating hydroelectric "dams"- a few rare sites are conducive to this (Bay of Fundy, for example)-up to 1 QBtu/yr practical worldwide.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC)-use thermal gradient to drive heat engine-complex, at sea, small power outputs.

Our Rain comes from the sea, much of our food comes from the sea, the produce a great deal of oxygen and absorbs CO2. the regulates the temperature of the surface of the earth etc, etc.
