The role of the integumentary system is to protect underlying tissue. They excrete (by sweating) salts, water and organic wastes. It maintain normal body temperature, synthesis (in the sun) of vitamin D3, storage of lipids (fats), and detection of touch, pressure, pain and temperature stimulus.
