The family of insects called Phasmatodea (or Phasmida), also known as Stick Insects, Walking Sticks, or Stick Bugs. There are many types of stick insect found in warm climates around the world. They range in size from a mere inch (2-3cm) to over a foot (30cm+) in length. They are usually nocturnal- more so as they mature.
Stick insects are so-called because of their effective camouflage; they look like twigs and leaves! Many stick insects can gradually change colour with their environment to maintain this defence. Some have been noted to employ a rocking motion that is thought to mimic the swaying of foliage in the breeze, though they usually tend to hide from potential threats by remaining very still for prolonged periods.
Some stick insects produce noxious compounds which can dissuade predators with strong smells or irritation of the eyes and nose. Some even reveal bright colours in order to appear threatening to a potential predator. Another simple defence is just to drop from their perch and attempt to remain hidden once fallen.
Stick insects are well adapted to blend in with the environment. It is a structural adaptation, as it enables it to be mistaken for a twig or branch.

Centipede
A dark-bodied, red-marked insect that predators need to avoid as a bad-tasting meal is what the boxelder bug looks like. The insect in question (Boisea trivittata) may be black- or dark brown-bodied with black or dark brown antennae, head and legs, with black or dark brown, red-veined wings and with red-marked abdomens. The eggs will change from yellow to red while the immature stages as nymphs will be bright red, with dark antennae and legs.
Maybe a centipede like Scutigera, but it is not an insect and have only legs at the posterior end.Well, you are right there. It is a house centipede. It kinda looks like a long spider. A brownish color. You have a house centipede. This is not a bad thing. It normally prays on other insects such as roaches. They are very fast creatures. I recomend that you scoop it up and take it outside, but it will not hurt you if you leave it be. It is poisonis but it can not kill you. Just relax and ignore it.
yes
I have one that looks exactly like you describe, but only 1/2 " long. Could it be the same bug?
The insect was about 4cm's in length for it's body and had large wings about 4cm's long that we're clear. The body was a dark yellow/brown colour and quite large in length and width, it also had long antennae which we're a red colour. If anyone could help us to figure out what this bug is it'd be appreciated.
