A list of instructions for a computer is called a program. Each program has multiple 'lines' which are individual tasks for the computer to do. the compilation of these lines to create an effect is called a program. E.G:

a=input (what is the first number? )

b=input (what is the second number? )

c=a + b

print "the sum of your numbers is " c

this is a sample of programming in the python programming language

That would be called an executable, also known as a batch file. If the instructions require user input, than it's called a program... then again, I'm making educated guesses here, I'm competent with computers but I dont' have a degree LOL.
