That's a common misconception, that it's a 'meal'. In truth, the first night of Passover in Israel and the first 2 nights outside of Israel, involve a religious service held in the home, this service is called a 'seder'. During the seder, prayers are said, small bites of symbolic foods are eaten, and the story of the exodus is read. Approximately halfway through the service, a break is taken to eat dinner. After dinner, the religious service is complete. Special foods are eaten such as matzohs which are unleavened bread, the food food on the table represents things. Like the roasted egg which represents one of the two sacrifices offered when the Temple stood, salt water which represents the tears of slavery, and charoset which represents the mortar used by the Israelites to build buildings.
