The Book of Joshua gives the perspective of the northern kingdom of Israel, of the legendary conquest of the Promised Land by its hero Joshua. In contrast, The Book of Judges, chapter 1, gives the perspective of the southern kingdom of Judah, of the same conquest by its hero Caleb.

The Book of Numbers largely duplicates the contents of the Book of Exodus, a puzzle if, as commonly supposed, both books were written by Moses. However, Numbers was actually written by an anonymous author now known as the Priestly source, during the time of the Babylonian Exile, almost a thousand years after the time attributed to Moses. It presents the priestly position on the events portrayed, emphasising the importance of the priesthood, particularly Aaron.

Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the law, found in the Jewish and Christian bibles.

It's name means Second Law, this is because it is a repeating by Moses to the children of Israel of the God's laws and decrees that were first given at Mt. Sinai.

So some major themes of Deuteronomy are:

Remember were God brought you out of, the land of Egypt.

Be true to your God and don't forget these laws and decrees for you are about to enter the land God promised your forefathers Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.

If you are unfaithful to the point of losing the land God has given you,

with repentance all can be restored to you.

For God is a gracious and forgiving God. Who will not always harbor His anger forever.

Praise be to God for His unfailing love and His faithfulness to the children of men.
