I can say that the model 10-6 was made from 1962-1976.The serial number with a D prefix was started in 1967,so I would assume that your Smith and Wesson model 10-6 with a C prefix to your serial number will be made in either 1965-1966.
@ 1966-67

Sounds to me that you have a smith and Wesson mod-12.These fine .38 special revolvers are selling for 200-300 dollars depending on the overall condition of the gun.
Less than 100 to over 1000 depending on specifics.
1979
You have a Smith and Wesson model 14 38 special. The 38 refers to the diameter of the barrel. That barrel is 38/100 of an inch in diameter. A 45 automatic has a barrel that is 45/100 of an inch in diameter. A 9mm has a barrel with a 9mm diameter. You can shoot 9mm ammunition from a 38 special. A 22 pistol has a small diameter barrel.
