Depends on several factor. Wind resistance, amount and type of propellant and bullet coefficient and weight. The truth is if you arch it, it will travel farther. Why: Disregarding wind resistance, if you fire a bullet from a gun and drop one from the same height and at the same time. Both bullets will hit the ground at the same time. This is called gravity. The distance is achieved with the speed that the bullet is traveling or amount of incline of the barrel when fired. A fast bullet will travel farther before it hit the ground than a slower one if the barrel is held level.
