That song refers to the Roberta Flack and Donnie Hathaway relationship and how he was depressed and allegedly commit suicide even though on the outside and in his relationship he seemed fine.
I'm can only assume that this song was made because Pete was rumored to be suffering from depression (heard it somewhere, don't really know if it's true.) And so there was probably some connection to that.
The featured artists that sing lyrics from older Fall Out Boy songs are like the tributes that Hathaway received after his death. Several artist made covers of his songs or made songs dedicated to him. So I guess this could be Pete's or Fall Out Boy's tribute to him.
