If a person successfully completes pledgeship and doesn't make grades they become a neophyte, and have a set amount of time until they can try and make grades again. If the pledge makes grades then they get to "initiate" through a ceremony, and officially become an Active Member. A person can be voted an inactive member by certain circumstances, in which they general aren't associated with the chapter. Once an Active graduates he takes on an Alum status for the fraternity.
