The R.M.S. Titanic was the namesake of one of the races of deities in Greek mythology. The three main races were the Olympians, the Titans, and the Giants. White Star Line wanted to include 3 ships bigger and better than the competing shipping lines with the names of the Olympic, the Titanic, and Gigantic (respectively).
