She was born in California and grew up in New York. She has two half-brothers. She supported herself with several part-time jobs, and featured in several unsuccessful pilots for sitcoms before finally landing a role as Rachel Karen Green on a US sitcom called Friends which is the world's second most popular show. She was originally wanted to play Monica but she refused. It ended in 2004, although there is a Friends film set to be released in 2011. She also starred in movies including Marley & Me, He's Just Not That Into You, Along Came Polly, Picture Perfect, starred in Loreal commercials, She's The One, Office Space, The Break-Up, The Good Girl, Bruce Almighty and others. She was also married to Brad Pitt in 2000 but they got divorced in 2005.
