According to Jesus it's more than just "studying" His Word; you have to study it in Faith with a humble heart, striving to come into "obedience" to His commands and to "please Him":
"...He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I DO ALWAYS THOSE THINGS THAT PLEASE HIM... Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, 'If ye continue in My Word [if you STUDY His Word, Faithfully and Humbly], THEN ARE YE MY DISCIPLES indeed; and ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free." (John 8:29-32 KJV)
So, a person who studies The Bible in such a fashion, Jesus calls him "HIS DISCIPLE, INDEED."
