Aragog. He is the reason Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts as they thought he was the creature that lived in the Chamber of Secrets and killed Moaning Myrtle.
There are no names given in 'The Hobbit.' In 'The Lord of the Rings' Shelob is the big spider that almost kills Frodo and is the only one that is named.

Bilbo rescues the dwarves after they were captured by the spiders. He cuts them down from the webs and distracts the spiders while the rest escape.
After Bilbo kills the giant Spiders he names his sword Sting. He did not imagine himself capable of being heroic, and until that moment had felt like a very small Hobbit in a very big, dangerous world. He was much more confident from that point on in the adventure.
It was Bilbo who did most of the fighting. The dwarves were still groggy due to the spider poison.

No the Giant spiders don't poison you, the only spiders in the game which are capable of poisoning you are called "Poison Spiders".
