Friends are people who care for you, comfort you when needed. Someone you can share secrets with and have private jokes to laugh at with them. People who want to help out in anyway they can and can quickly make up with after fights but they are also people who can force you to do something you don't necessarily want to do, they can say things that you do not feel comfortable about and can offend you without knowing it. Also during arguments they know the exact things to do to hurt you and get under your skin. sometimes you can't talk to these people about your problems out of fear they won't understand, judge you or will no longer want to be your friend.
Friends can also get in the way in certain situations but it's hard to say no to them as in order not to hurt their feelings, but overall the most negative thing about friendship is the pressure. To be perfect, better, strong, smart, good looking, to have a relationship, sexual orientation and so forth. All those things and more are pushed onto us by our friend/s but not in a hurtful way, less consciously, but as an idealism.
In the end friends help make you good memories too - Ones good enough to over power the bad ones - And even make you want to remember the bad ones too.
