Autotrophs are living beings that are able to derive energy from a source other than another living being- the source being sunlight or chemicals in the environment. Autotrophs include but are not limited to; plants who photosynthesize sunlight into chemical energy and microorganisms that live off of the chemicals secreted by hydrothermal vents deep under the ocean.
With that being said, many things eat autotrophs- as a matter of fact most food systems start with auotrophs at the bottom.
Some animals that eat autotrophs - Humans, dogs, hummingbirds, cows and horses. These animals are more largely called heterotrophs because they cannot derive their metabolic energy on their own- they must consume it through their diet by eating plants if they are herbivorous or meat if they are carnivorous.
Autotrophic organisms do not eat they produce their own energy through photosythesis
Heterotrophs.
Heterotroph
Consumer
Organasim
Organisms that make their own food are called autotrophs.
An organism that kills and eats all or part of another organism is called a carnivore.
An organism that eats other organisms for energy are known as heterotrophs.
plants... anything that is not an animal. Herbivory (as in herbivore) is a form of predation in which an organism consumes principally autotrophs like plants and other such organisms.
An organism is an autotroph if it can make it's own food. Autotrophs can be plants, algae, or bacteria. For example, plants use sunlight (photosynthesis) to create their own food. These autotrophs are called phototrophs. Other organisms oxidize inorganic compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide, elemental sulfur, ammonium and ferrous iron to create their own food. These autotrophs are called lithotrophs.
A consumer so anything that eats something that makes its own food ex. humans
Autotrophs
An organism that eats another organism is called a consumer.
Organisms that make their own food are called autotrophs.
Heterotroph An autotroph is an organism that produces its own food. A heterotroph is an organism that eats autotrophs or heterotrophs that eat autotrophs. The food gets turned into energy.
A heterotroph is an organism that cannot synthesize its own food where as autotrophs can synthesize their own food. So heterotrophs are dependent on autotrophs for food. For example a cow (heterotroph) eats grass (autotroph).
Any organism that eats another organism is called a consumer.
Heterotroph
An organism that kills and eats all or part of another organism is called a carnivore.
Protists
they can be called autotrophs or producers
