Answer According to Christians, Christianity was founded by G-D. It is the doctrines and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus is the Christ, or the Messiah. After His death and resurrection, his disciples (like Peter and Paul) spread His gospel abroad.

To understand what Christianity is, though, look at the root word Christos, which is Greek for Christ. The Christ was the "anointed one," to be anointed means to be chosen by G-D for royalty or priesthood. While Christ is from the Greek, Messiah comes from the Hebrew "Meshiach," also meaning the "anointed one." A "Christian" and a "Messianic" Believer by definition must be one and the same.

Answer It is essential that Paul be included in discussions of the origins of Christianity. Without the work that Paul did, Christianity might not have caught on anywhere. He made several missionary journies that are documented in the Book of Acts, and he also played a major role in opening the Christian church to the non-Jewish communities of the day. Most study bibles have sections outlining Paul's journies, and they make for a very exciting time in the early history of the church. Paul's letters, independent of the journeys he made, also play a major role in the dissemination of Christian teaching.

JUDAISM

Answer

Christianity was a religion evolved from the Ancient Egyptian Religion of Sun worship between 2 and 3 thousand years ago.

First it is important to point out that Jesus Christ as worshipped by Christians has only ever appeared in religious texts which are not considered to be a reliable source of history by main stream historians. He has never appeared in any actual historical documents and so there is considerable doubt as to whether he actually existed as described in The Bible at all.

As far as the origin of Christianity goes there are many documents I can reference but the documentary "Zietguist" does this for us very well so I will quote a summary from the text:

"Furthermore, the character of Jesus, a literary and astrological hybrid, is most explicitly a plagiarization of the Egyptian Sun-god Horus. For example, inscribed about 3500 years, on the walls of the Temple of Luxor in Egypt are images of the enunciation, the immaculate conception, the birth, and the adoration of Horus. The images begin with Thaw announcing to the virgin Isis that she will conceive Horus, then Nef the holy ghost impregnating the virgin, and then the virgin birth and the adoration. This is exactly the story of Jesus' miracle conception. In fact, the literary similarities between the Egyptian religion and the Christian religion are staggering." Answer For Christians, Christianity originated as the disciples (and later, the apostles) spread the news of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, building up a fledgling church which has grown into what it is today. These men, who fled from the scene and denied their association with Jesus while he was being crucified, preached with a boldness that went against the Jewish traditions in which they had been raised.

Originally, these followers called themselves followers of "the Way" (Acts 9:2), after Jesus's words "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me." Sometime after Christ's death and resurrection, a new term arose, that being "Christian". The first use of this word "Christian" to refer to christ's followers is recorded in Acts 11:26 as having been used in Antioch, a city in Syria. The term comes from the Greek word meaning Messiah "Christos" and the latin ending "ianus". The combination of these two words means "belonging to Christ".

Christianity is based on the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God, was able to perform miracles, and was resurrected after being crucified.

Jesus Christ is the entire basis for Christianity. Scripture tells us that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it.

Additional Answer:

The founder of Christianity is Jesus of Nazareth, who Christians know as "the Christ," which means savior.

Christians accept that Christianity began in Palestine, following the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. A view that is gaining some acceptance among scholars is that there was no historical Jesus of Nazareth, and that Christianity really developed in either Syria or Egypt.
