# What is the perimeter of a rectangle and a sqare?

123 ###### 2011-02-25 15:07:44

For a rectangle:

Perimeter = 2 times (length plus width).

This works for a square too.

For a square:

Perimeter = 4 times (length of any side).

The perimeter of a rectangle is not sufficient to determine its length. The perimeter of the rectangle is the sum of its 4 sides. Let's take a look at this problem.Rectangle Perimeter = 2(l + w)Rectangle Perimeter =? 2(2l + 2w)Rectangle Perimeter =? (2)(2)(l + w)2(Rectangle Perimeter) = 2[2(l + w)]Thus, we can say that the perimeter of a rectangle is doubled when its dimensions are doubled.Rectangle Area = lwRectangle Area =? The perimeter of a rectangle equals the all the sides added together! The perimeter of a rectangle is the distance around it. The formula for finding the perimeter of a rectangle is: P = 2L + 2W (the length x 2 added to the width x 2). Example: A 5x10 rectangle has a perimeter of 30: (5x2 + 10x2 = 30) Perimeter is Length + width x 2 or Length + length + width + width. This is perimeter for any shape including a rectangle. Perimeter of a rectangle is all sides added together for a rectangle. the area of a rectangleis 100 square inches. The perimeter of the rectangle is 40 inches.
