"Summer in a Day" is about children who live on Venus where there is no sunshine except for 1 hour on 1 day every 7 years. Venus is endless rainstorms and cold. A girl named Margot moves to Venus from earth and describes the sun to them but they do not believe her. They bully her and ostracize her, then they lock her in a closet. Just before the sun ins set to come out their teacher takes them outside to enjoy it and they forget that Margot is in the closet. They play and have fun in the sun until the feel a drop of rain and head back inside where they suddenly remember Margot. They release her from the closet but are too ashamed to even look at her or each other. The sun has had it's day and Margot, the one who loved the sun more than anyone, has missed it because of being locked in the closet.
