He gets up and goes to his office which is in his house. He reads the papers and meets with his staff who tell him what he had to do that day. He has may meetings with all sorts of people. including Congressmen, foreign dignitaries, visiting honorees, politicians, pundits, newsmen, cabinet members, to name a few.
He has to eat and sleep, tend to family obligations and try to squeezein a little time for himself and personal interests. Sometimes he takes trips around the US and to foreign countries and makes speeches to conventions and other gatherings.
The president spends most of his work day in meetings or on the phone. Sometimes a crisis comes up that he must deal with. Sometimes there are special events such as foreign dignitaries to meet with and speeches to be made. There are thousands of little things that people want the president to react to. He is also a celebrity - fans like to meet him for no good reason and he, being a politician likes to accommodate as many people as possible to provide photo moments. There is also traveling all over the country and the world and speeches to be made. In short the President is impossibly busy.
Typically he gets up around sunrise and goes to bed about midnight, but really, there is no typical day or routine. Every day is different.
